I’m far from a wing car guru, but I would expect to see an orange pie tin on a Daytona.
My earlier post was a response to the “68 cars got red, 69 cars got orange” comment, which is generally true but not an ironclad fact by any stretch of the imagination.
Bird426: your picture is what I would expect my car to look like. I’ll verify the mounting hole location. If it’s correct, then I’ll be on the lookout for the correct upper door panels.
Thank you!
Thank you for your response; my first post apparently wasn’t clearly worded.
My concern is there is a gap between the top of the upper door panel (the painted metal piece that is screwed in place above the vinyl door panel) and the bottom of the pop-out rear side glass. From inside the car I...
Howdy, can someone tell me if these upper door panels are the right ones for a coupe?
They don’t seem to be tall enough to hide the inside lip of the quarter panel when viewed from the inside. The photo below isn’t real clear but if enlarged a little the dull red overspray from the inside lip...
Congrats, SeabeckRedneck! I’m in Quilcene and was seriously considering the car. I’m glad it’s staying local, and hope to see it at shows and on the road.
I have a very similarly constructed hood from AAR, and it sank in the middle. I recommend taking a few minutes and glassing a brace running fender to fender, right in front of the scoop. I think that would help prevent problems down the road.
I’ve had zero luck with the standard repop seals, but 100% success with DMT (Detroit Muscle Technologies) seals. If the leak persists, I suggest ordering a seal from them.
I’m sorry that I don’t have all the info you’re seeking, but it’s used on 1968 cars equipped with the clean air package but NOT 426 Hemis, which use a different mounting bracket (the valve itself is the same). I’m pretty confident the above is true, but likely not the full answer you seek.

I’m looking for a rebuilt or rebuildable 1970 Hemi distributor 2875987 dated Dec 1969 or earlier.
I have a complete rebuildable 1968 Hemi distributor 2875140 dated 34 8 for possible trade.

I shot three coats of PPG DP50 epoxy primer on a challenger and am not extremely happy with how it’s holding up. It just isn’t durable enough by itself.
RestoRick sells a paint that replicates the factory primer look, but offers real protection. I will use that on my current project.

Are you building a Super Bee or RR clone? I bought one of the RR hoods that are in white gelcoat and sold on eBay. The hood looked really nice, but the underside requires a fair amount of work to fit on the car.
The first issue is that the fiberglass is too thick around the rear hood pin...
My 72 RR is very similar to your 71. 340/4 spd/3.55. The engine was rebuilt and had ported “308” heads, six pack, MP .508 cam, and Hooker Super Comps. The suspension was stock. I swapped in a 4.10 gear set and ran 28” drag radials. I had a line lock.
The car ran low 14s during the summer...
Would the CAP system be called out on the build sheet? If so, where?
A buddy has a 67 Hemi GTX and he says there is a “7” in the box for the distributor. This is odd because neither the CAP nor the non-CAP distributors end in a 7.
What did the Clean Air package consist of on a 1967 Hemi GTX? Would the CAP package be specified on the broadcast sheet? Or did every car receive it after a certain date?
Hi guys, looking for gold front and rear armrests for my 1968 GTX. Prefer NOS but very clean used would work as well.
PM me here with pics and price
Thanks!
If you ever plan to race it, I recommend NOT installing a HV pump. Go with a stock pump. The oil return passages on a 426 Hemi are very small and you can pump a tremendous amount of oil into the heads on a 1/4 mile pass with a HV pump. If your pan capacity isn’t adequate, you will be...
