I've run the drill/tool CCW for about two minutes and don't feel any resistance. How long does it take to feel that. Checked the oil level and that has not gone down either. Just want to get an idea what to expect.

Just went out and the screwdriver trick worked. Snagged it with my long nose vice grips. I know it turned a bit getting it out so not sure what that did to the oil pump position. Wife is looking over my shoulder to take her to dinner so back at it tomorrow. Happy wife, happy life.

The slot is in the drive gear, it is engaged with the camshaft. You won't spin anything with that slot. Take the drive gear out, and the bottom end is a 5/16" Thats what drives the oil pump. The priming tool is 18 inches long.

Pump drive failure is usually connected to crap seizing up the pump. From my experiences. It would have to be a pretty soft drive for it to fail from turning a pump IMO

There is a washer and a clip on top of the seal, I can't see any dirt getting in there, but I can see oil leaking out. I go with what I think is right, so I install them lip down. I have not worked on a lot of transmissions however.

Don't put sealer on the bolt threads. You will hate it. Try different type of sealing washers, like a copper or aluminum, and tighten it up. The oil plug is straight threads, not meant for sealing, that's what the washer is for. If you put anything on the threads count on it ending up inside...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too - at cold start, I would want as minimum friction as possible. But, the shop recommended this combo to increase oil pressure. I was thinking 'if' I did run the straight 40w, then no Lucas additive as the 40w here in PA should be thick enough. But, again...
