That stinks. I remember you posting when you first got the car done. Really turned out nice.
Also..good idea to look into the oil filter and see what is in it if you've had a failure. Best case scenario is a collapsed lifter. The BB intakes are easy to pull since no water jacket compared to...
New plan.
I will drill a hole for the oil filler pipe, forward on the left hand cover. I will enquire about the air breather for a newer model. I suspect they are smaller. Meanwhile there is more air sucking sound, with the hose directly in the right hand cover.
Not sure what that round air cap...
Who knows what clearances are on most of our engines! I have no f'n idea on any of them. Bee was rebuilt in 1986 for $300, it runs 60 all day long, 30+ hot and sitting at a light. The Hemi in the 66 runs too high IMHO.. 90 cold... then 80 hot, but drops hot to 40 at a light. My Superbird has had...
Now that was a very informative episode. Fantastic. they didn't speak on pick up distances, but elaborated well on windage, oil levels and aerating. Wish the tests could be done on a real world car launching and aborting. Oil pressure is important of course.
Water is heavier than at least motor oil. Not sure about gear though. Thats the only thing I could think of for it rising. Water somehow came in through the vent. Might need to get out the suck o lux and pull what you can out through the fill hole. Or pop the axles out some and drop the center...
Thank you! Just what i wanted to hear! I will convert to oil thru pushrods this winter and use a ball/ball pushrod. Down side with full time oiling is the restrictors you have to use. I’m working on a solution to do that without needing to lift the heads to change restrictors or lift the intake...
What we’re working soon.. it’s got a bad oil pump. It cranks but the valves are clacking showing no oil pressure.. and it’s got metal shavings in engine.. so where going to pull and rebuild it.. give me something new to drive.. 5.7 Hemi..
What a moron moment. One cover is upside down. (thanks dadsbee for letting me off the hook)
I still have an issue at the oil pan and front cover that is bare after cleaning the gasket surface.
Thanks again.
Pretty much a bolt in. Oil pan will most likely work depending what the later engine is from, at worst you can swap pan from the original engine. I had a 64 Dodge with a later 318 swapped in but I didn't do it myself. The later engine will bolt right up to the original push button automatic in...
What is the set part number? What is the bearing shell part number? I also see a shadow of the oil hole in the bearing in the cap. Do both shells have oil holes, or do you have them installed wrong?
Kendall sponsored me but if they did not i would still buy the oil out of packet from what i learned from old timers to find my oil now is hard so when i find it i but 2 to 3 cases of it.
I see these TV mechanics smelling and actually tasting the oil off the dipstick. I suppose you might be able to smell a burned smell. What the heck are they trying to figure out by doing this and what gives off a red flag in the smell and or taste?
