If I cut a piece of sheet metal one and three-quarter inch, then it should slide in the channel and lock in. And with a clip like this, it should be press fitted into that hole and lock in as well. This would be a very simple one cut one weld for each part. heck I could even fab them and sell...
The problem with used parts as they won’t exist for this part. What I mean to say is you have to destroy them to take them out. That old plastic is brittle as hell and won’t hold either. If you do get one out that’s not destroyed.
I don’t think by itself that will work as it has to lock into the rocker moulding as well as the hole.
I was thinking of a sheet metal piece that slides in the rocker moulding channel and welding a door panel clip to it. It’s strong and easy to fab and all metal and snap fits.
Not sure. The problem is this a blind mate connection. This means no access from behind or anywhere. It’s a press fit. Maybe I can 3D print something. I just don’t like PLA and I can’t print nylon. Also it’s a snap fit on the moulding side and thats real tricky to tolerance up.
Yes thanks I had to do that on my rear trunk chrome. It worked better than the stock clips! But yeah I will have to see if Wayne has any ideas. He like me and many of us spent a lot of time hunting for parts. A significant amount of time actually…
Thanks for confirming! Bummer I just received my NOS clips today! Sure enough they are for the wide “standard” GTX/RR not the narrow Sport Satellite. See picture. I am at a loss as well. There were only 7,000 some odd 70 Sport Satellite’s made and not many survivors. It’s more rare than the 70...
The final two pieces of chrome. The rocker panels were pitted and beat up. I tapped out the dents. Then I dry sanded 120 grit and wet sanded 240, 320, 400, 600, 800 1000 and 1500 the buffed using white compound. Lots of work but a huge difference. These are chrome plated stainless steel. Going...
I just finished my interior color change on my 1970 Sport Satellite and have a set of custom vinyl seat covers for anyone in need of something better than they currently have. They are older but in nice shape and were not used much so they look like the pictures show. No worn spots or rips or...
Hi Frank, I went to talk with Sonny’s in Tempe https://yelp.to/h8nMgFNF7i they had good reviews. Their quote was fair for upholstery work compared to other shops. And I talked with them in person for a while. In the end I decided to do the work myself a few weeks ago. My work came out very good...
I recall seeing a thread somewhere, but can’t find it after a search indicating that a certain Ford rocker panel clip will fit in 1970 GTX or sport satellite rocker molding. Does anybody recall this and if so, what Ford clip was that?
thanks MF
I found my wiper arms. They never had blades on them. They are Anco made in the USA. Were these the originals? Also what type/size of wipers do I need for these? They look like some type of press fit since there are no holes or barbs etc on the end.
