Get a small, round, wire brush for an electric drill. Use THAT to clean the freeze plug opening back to clean metal. Use silicon on the NEW plug to seal it

My understanding: Yukon made two types of gear sets for popular diffs. [1] Was soft material for drag racing that flex slightly & absorb the 'hit'. It did not wear well not as well finished [ two gears lapped together ] [2] Street gears of harder material for long life that were lapped as a set...
