I would worry about changing the geometry of the front suspension by shimming down the K frame. If I was worried about the engine/trans angle being too steep, I would back off on the torsion bar adjusters a few turns to drop the front down. To me shimming the K frame down messes with everything...

I use a cap of some sort to keep tapping the tip to keep it wet. Works great. You have to keep pressing the tip back and forth into the pen itself.
