I would worry about changing the geometry of the front suspension by shimming down the K frame. If I was worried about the engine/trans angle being too steep, I would back off on the torsion bar adjusters a few turns to drop the front down. To me shimming the K frame down messes with everything...

The stock path is a trash can as designed from the start. How you decide to fix it is up to you. Run the ammeter or not, pick your approach and do it wisely.
