You only have to shorten if you had manual steering i believe.. a PS column is already too short for a borgeson, thus the longer adapter.. It's bout 1.5" longer than stock
I found some damage and my power steering pump's pulley. Borgeson makes a new pump, it's there 800338. Only thing is, it's a 6 3/4" pulley and the one I have is around 4 5/8". Does anyone think this would this cause any problems besides maybe a bigger belt?
I bought a Borgeson kit from Bergman. Happy with it. Only thing I ran into on my 65 was my original box to k frame bolts were smaller diameter than the holes in the box. I made sleeves for the bolts and went with it.
The trip to Van Nuys few weeks back.
I had Rich pull on the bracket as I tightened it. The belt was tight.
Either the pump is not up to the task, the belt slips despite adequate tension or the Borgeson unit just needs greater pressure. I don’t know where the problem lies just yet.
Thanks for the response. So I went ahead and installed the remanufactured box from Autozone. But after looking at it I'm fairly confident it's a Lares brand box. It appears to be doing alright. I've not driven it much. The only problem I had was I heated the original crush washer to restore its...

I put that pump in my car. I had to chip away at a bump on the block that was threaded. I really still need to take a little more off. The return line robs up against that spot when tightening or loosening the pump. The original pump had a damaged pulley and was making noise. The new pump is...

thanks for this! My box was installed not too many miles ago and I'm running a new (rebuilt) Saginaw pump. Less than 300 mi so far, but no noise or issues. I'll keep this info about the tuned Bergman box on file as a backup in case any future issues occur.
