Most likely the nylon bushing what keeps centered the needle shaft got broken. This bushing also keeps in place the needle return helicoidal spring adjuster… soooo if got broken the needle won’t return (and the speedo won’t read correctly).
BTDT (Already have fixed two speedos with the same)...
The silver lining about this situation is that when you do figure out all that stuff, you'll know the car, and be able to handle the little repairs that are inevitable with a 60 year old vehicle.
I am currently there right now, cleaning up after a wind storm. and plenty of in house chores need to get the charging system sorted. What is the current problem you are trying to tackle, easier to after smaller bites.
Sometimes a project car can seem overwhelming and things can take longer than planned to complete. Take a deep breath and fix one thing at a time. You'll get there.
Looks like Im going to have to try an aftermarket dipsitck tube. I put RTV on top of the oring, let it dry. Then I cleaned up aroung the hole and let that dry. I put some RTV at the end of the dipstick and reinstalled. After letting that dry for close to 24 hours. It still leaks. It looks like...

Thanks. I've been trying to find a set of them and all the keywords I keep trying have only come up with one pair and they weren't in very good shape for the price being asked.
Do you know if it's just the 68-70 b-bodies or were they used on other cars also?
I think I bought a huge piece of **** and I dont think this will ever be drivable. No matter how much work and time I put into this Charger, I just keep getting it up my ***. I'm having the feeling I never should have bought this car. Problem is, I have more money into it then Its worth...
They have been known to fall out of the SG when removing axles. If both axles are removed, and one can see daylight looking thru the axle, they are both missing and need to be located. I doubt this is the problem, but it could be. If one is in place, the other may fall out by itself, and that...
My road runner 383 has a stock cam and 10 degrees before TDC isn't enough with modern pump gas. Extra credit - you can limp by on a worn distributor shaft bushing by closing up the point gap a bit.
I closed my hood today so I can try moving my 67 Charger in the driveway. I went to unlock the hood, and it seems the rod from the handle that is used to unlock the hood, fell out and is not connected to the hood lock. I thing the little grommet for that rod is missing, and thats probably why is...
