oil pump priming what do you use

I don't see how you could prime the system using the slot on the intermediate shaft. It's geared to the camshaft. You need to remove it and spin the oil pump directly. So a 5/16 hex tool is required.

Looking for advice on refreshing an RV 440

Fwiw, I prefer to eliminate the rotators. On any heads I’ve seen with them, when the factory used rotators, the ex valves had two grooves. If you simply swap to std retainers, the spring installed height can change……. So it needs to be checked. (On a SB, the installed height ends up short...

Favorite "that was too easy" car repairs?

Plenty of times the fix was easy or at least easier than thought. Nice as it sort of balances out those times when it wasn’t. A more recent hassle was one of the indicator lights on a light bar in my modified console burned out. Well, getting to the housing is a supreme bitch, but figured it...

I'm almost at wits end with this car.

I sorta am. I was trying to get it drivable so I can take it to some body shops for estimates. Then once it at a shop being taken sort, I can prepare what I need for the interior.

    727 dipstick removal

I think I found out why there was no bolt on the bottom dipstick tube tab. I found this when I was removing the dipstick tube for the 3rd time. I felt around and could feel any chips around the hole for the bolt. I used a 5/16 ¾” bolt, but it seemed from the get go that it would never tighten. I...
