    72 Charger SE restoration

I can 100% attest that it's not burnt. These are both new wiring harnesses (engine bay and interior). To reiterate, the actual female brass connector that's slid over the male connector is reading 0.35 volts. Brass-to-brass. I am not measuring volts down the line or anything.

    72 Charger SE restoration

Well fellas, I'm at a complete loss for words. I de-pinned the interior power wire again, soaked it in vinegar+salt solution for 10 minutes to eat away any corrosion, sprayed it with brake cleaner, dried it off, and then scuffed it up with a wire brush and a tiny file. Barely any improvement...

    72 Charger SE restoration

Oh! And here's some pictures of before. I'll snap some "after" pics tomorrow when I go back out. The top-left is the power connector that's giving me so much trouble (so far that I know of), which I'm getting 12.5 in the engine bay on this connector.

    72 Charger SE restoration

An interior parts screw kit (including under the dash) would be AMAZING. I bought a generic one from eBay but I could definitely use more! Thanks! As for today, I spent about 3 hours taking apart my bulkhead connector to see why I'm getting so much voltage drop. My connector cleaner kit came in...

    72 Charger SE restoration

Well, the thread is called "72 Charger SE Restoration"! All are welcome to post their 72 updates here! :) And heck yes I'm interested in parts for a 72. Would love to get my hands on any good body parts and/or interior bits. Would love to get some original screws and bolts from the dash area...

    72 Charger SE restoration

Thanks Bb70charger500! Good to be back into the fray. I'd say the most notable thing I did was remove the dash to replace the dash pad. While I was there, I figured I'd resurface the metal of the dash, then throw a few coats of black color and clear coat paint to give it a nice finish. I also...

    72 Charger SE restoration

Howdy y'all! I'm posting an update to say that I'm getting my car back up and running after my SNAFU with replacing my transmission shifter. I ended up successfully installing a linkage-type shifter from American Shifter. Once I got that done, the car ended up sitting in my neighbor's garage for...

Help - Identification of Torqueflite 727 bolt

Heat from the exhaust causes the insulation from the cable to stick, or even worse, the insulation completely melts, letting the inner shaft burst out. I would rather have a dedicated bolted-down brass rod actuating the shift mechanism rather than take my chances with getting stuck out in the...

Help - Identification of Torqueflite 727 bolt

No can do. That's outside my scope of experience. Much appreciated on the information though!

Help - Identification of Torqueflite 727 bolt

Hey there! I've got a pickle of a problem and I was hoping someone here could help me. I'm replacing a Hurst cable shifter in my 72 Charger with one of those thick brass shifters from American Shifter. I got under my car last weekend to install the brackets that mount to my transmission and I...

    72 Charger SE restoration

Those are both great looking. Love the stripe on the side and the decals, Bruzilla! I've hit a bit of a snag. My Hurst shifter cable took some heat damage and failed on me. Now the car is stuck outside my apartment. The new cable arrived last night. After getting under the car I discovered the...

    72 Charger SE restoration

I would if I were a die-hard Rangers fan! I'm a Blackhawks fan, so I was thinking black with red and white stripes similar to this: Speaking of the Rangers... I was betting on them to make it to the finals this year! I figured, if the Hawks get it, great. If not, Henrik finally gets a cup!

    72 Charger SE restoration

I assumed it was from a '72. I'm also not interested in replacing the vinyl top. I'd like to simply repaint the top the same color as the body. I want to start with a matte black and go from there. Maybe work in some very small graphics or pin-striping. I'm really into ice hockey. I was thinking...

    72 Charger SE restoration

Howdy folks! It's been a while since I've checked in. I figured I'd start a new thread in this section to talk about my restoration project. Here's what my car looks like right now [pic1 pic2 pic3 pic4]. My goal this year is to do as much body work on my own as possible. I've been watching...

On the road to completing a childhood fantasy

Hey, thanks everyone! I really appreciate the warm welcome. I will post pictures as I can. For the people asking for specs, I the original motor was a 400 2BBL powerhouse (from what I'm told) the original owner put in after she raced the car in Idaho back in the late 80s-90s. I was told she...

On the road to completing a childhood fantasy

Hello all! My name is Zan (short for "Alexander"). I bought my 1972 Charger when I was still in high school around 1996. Since then I've moved to Chicago and had to put the car in a garage for almost 10 years. Now I have a very good job and am able to afford to pay someone to fix up my car for...
