I was looking at those pistons the other night on the Summit website. Usually order from them. those would put me pretty close to even with the deck. I would also be interested on how she does at the track. I may take her up to Bandemere on test and tune night see what she’ll run. Probably be...
yea i thought the same thing after i found out which pistons i actually had in the engine. Spent $3000 at machine shop. Wanted to do the best job I could do on the engine. Rebuilt the rods, line bored the block surfaced heads and deck, bored and honed cylinders new valves. Really disappointed...
Yea I’ve learned a lot since putting the engine together. Next time i’ll be more aware of details and know exactly what pistons and other parts i’m putting together.
I’m on a fairly tight budget.I will be putting some money aside this winter for the heads hopefully in the spring i can get it done. You definitely have given lots of good info. Think i like the idea of 516s milled .030 with shim. It’s a toy never run on a track Just thrilled to get it out on...

I wanted to ask some advice about the engine in my 1966 Coronet 500. I rebuilt the 383 a 3 years ago and put new .030 oversized cast pistons in that the machine shop provided with the rebuild kit. Not having put an engine together for many years didn’t realize that they are down below the deck...
It usually happens when I get it out on the highway about 65 to 70 mph I watch the factory Guage needle climb towards the H and I also put in an aftermarket Guage as it approaches 240 I pull over and let it cool trying just to let it cool at idle but sometimes shut it down and it starts boiling...
I've had my car since 1996. I traded a high school kid for my 1974 plymouth duster I had finished restoring. His grandmother had given him the coronet and ge did not want it. He saw my duster at my buddies house next door and had to have it.i traded him titles. The '66 has a 383 4 barell abd 727...
