I doubt a failing float would empty the bowl.
Have you contacted your rebuilder over this issue?

If you're a do it yourselfer, a carb repair stand in a pan and using mineral spirits might be a way to test your repair before reinstalling the carb.
Note...
IMO, it's good practice to check your gaskets for proper alignment/fit before you install them. Just assuming they are correct can get ya' in some trouble.
FWIW, mine was on my '77 360 Ramcharger daily driver way back, early '80s. One cold morning I started it up and seemed fine. As it warmed up the oil pressure dropped off considerably. Shut it down checked oil level which was fine and no shiny particles on the stick. Restarted and pressure came...

Guessing the cut in the 7-8 position was likely header clearance. I use FWs on my Barracuda.
FWIW, recently my Barracuda fusible went intermittent on a drive three blocks from home. The engine starts popping and back firing. Alternator gauge swinging back and forth charge discharge. Fortunately, it made it home. Shut it down, try to restart....nothing. Not even a click. Cleaned the BH...
1-3/16 won't go on mine. 12 point 1-1/4 Craftsman is loose but it's what I use.
You could get a slightly deeper bite on the bolt head grinding the lead off the socket.
Sometimes ya' gota' do whatcha' gota' do.
A fat six-point plug socket had issues fitting on a plug or two with these older TTi below.
Maybe try a thin wall 12 point to tighten and break it loose if you don't want to hammer header tubes for clearance.
