Ok You might want to consider actually having experience with something before giving advice. It would be a lot more credible.

I'm pretty sure when I purchased a center section from Summit or Dr. Diff (can't remember who) it was shipped in a 5 gal. bucket and a heavy-duty cardboard box.

I doubt if a tail shaft leak would migrate to the pan. I would suspect the pan or the shift shaft seal.
