I honestly think it is a combination of alot of things... such as merchants loading up prices before costs hit to balance out total liability in wearhoused stock (i.e., start raising proces to reset the market with existing low-cost stock to maximize profits before getting into massive drops in...
put in drive, then park, then reverse, and then in neutral. If the guages do their wried on/off in both park and nutral... you may have an issue with the NSS wireing. This could be related to how you terminated to the new starter relay.
as for amp guage... if it is connected to anything other...
holy sh!t. lose calipers... if that was my car I'd be ripping the entire brake system apart and redoing everything. if the po can't tighten a bolt or get a seal right, who knows what else is about to fail and send you into a tree. peddle travel... based on what you're saying about other...
You have to get the right/correct hold downs. The shim will chew the alum pedestal. It will eventually cause pretty nasty problems - rocker misalignment, shaving in the oil, etc. 440 source's hold downs tend to work well with TF heads... 240's and 270's.
If a crisp street muscle is what you're looking for... then I would avoid an 850, and 750 is starting to sound like your go to. At that point it comes down to manual or vac secondaries :)
I hate to say it... and I know I'm going to get flak for saying this... but I'm not a fan of eddy carbs. I...
Cool - thx.
Just a gut reaction...
If you have power brakes, I would lean in the direction of 750. Good vac and you'll have good throttle response. But, you might lose a bit at the top end of the 1/4. Or, go 850 with a tiny bit less vac, which is ok with manual master, and have a little more run...
I'm with @PurpleBeeper ... 750 minimum, prefer 850. I have a not-to-dissimilar 440 in my 72 with a 750 and it's a touch too small IMHO. Just out of curiosity, what's the duration at 0.050? Sorta speaks to RPM range and airflow demand...
I have a set... somewhere. But I know they're a bit beat up. I'll take pics once I find them, if you're interested - let me know. If you're looking for perfect, I'm not your guy.
Still in manufacture's unopened box. Holley EFI 7" Digital Dash, Part #553-106, Compatible with Holley EFI, Sniper 1, and Terminator X. Asking $750 obo. Will ship to the lower 48. (edit: If shipping to other... buyer pays. Shipping internationally or even to Alaska or Hawaii is getting a bit...
First reaction is ... wow that's a thick plate.
I would pop the caliper mount on and then the caliper to check centerline. The spacer may be needed to push the mount/caliper out to ensure its centered on the disk.
If using a stock mechanical pump, I typically will put a filter directly after it to protect systems down flow... like a regulator and carb. If electric pump, pre and post pump, with tighter filter (lower micron) on the post side, which is before the carb/regulator.
@Paul_G Man I'm watching this thread closely... I'm super curious what happened.
Do you use mechanical timing? I know a situation where the spring came loose and it over advanced. Granted, he had the wrong limit bushing too...
I'm very curious about the gas and what octane was in the tank...
There are a lot of great places to get a wide range of axles for 8 3/4... if you're not looking for something specific, I always recommend to start with Dr. Diff. Frankly, they've been great to me as a customer, and I can't recommend them more.
Here is an axle that may work... as an example...
1972 Charger - Looking for the bracket that attaches to the inside top-center of the front bumper used to hold the grill inserts. Huge thanks to @T2R9 for the guidance and pictures!
