Curious what your goal is for the engine??? Accurate restoration?? If not, there are other options, including other closed chamber factory and of course aftermarket heads that might work for you. I sold my '59 HiPo heads recently but i may have others that are worthy......
I have a nice meter, but it has a "hold" feature. This has tripped me up many times if i accidently hit that button, or something else does. Pretty dangerous feature, imo. Maybe yours has something similar??

He already owns a car that is high dollar and hard to find here....much less there. He says metal work doesnt scare him, but depending on the condition of the car as is, leaving it alone may just be the smartest move. Just a thought.

As explained, when using the rope seal, that knurl pulls the oil IN as the crank spins in the normal direction, preventing leakage while allowing the oil in that area to do its job lubricating.
If you can weld, everything you need to make this work is in your hand in post #1. Otherwise, Mancini should have an exact fit for you, and may be the better economic choice if you sell all the leftovers you arent going to use for this build. :thumbsup:
@ post#12..... i was thinking that i would never attempt to straighten a factory cam. And thank god ive never needed to work on a billet cam so far. You know as well as i there was "nothing wrong" with that cam till the second it hit the shop floor.
He modified the pickup at the block. What (whos) pan are you trying to fit up? If its a moroso or milodon, theyll have an exact pickup to match in 1/2" for your chosen pan.
Thats why i mentioned the block itself. Cam bearings need some "crush" just like rods and mains, in their own way. Ill admit it would probably take more experience than i have to have the right feel for when its going in too easily, but its def something to watch for while putting them in. Im...
