I left the chrome off my 71 charger for years after I painted it. Couple summers ago I put it back on thinking I was gonna sell it. Looks waaaaayyyy better with it on IMO. Gives some contrast to the body lines.
They're certainly rounded and the contact patch is less at the higher pressure. Everything is a compromise. I'm fighting sidewall deflection. The higher air combats that.... at the expense of contact patch. However, the tire deflection actually gets you some of that back.

I actually dont adjust mine much. I run 45 front for autocross and 40 rear. For winter I'll take them down to 35 for just sitting. They're rated for 50 or 55 so I don't have any issue running them high.

If my kids or possible future grandkids or nephews dont want my stuff they can auction it. I've always thought it might be neat to make a kids dream come true and gift them something they were truly interested and passionate about too.
I'm not sure what you're asking for in "pleasure to drive." Do you want a modern car feel? Do you want it tightened up but still soft? Is it a cruiser or do you want to compete in an autocross? How hard do you want to drive it?
It's incredible what a change in feel happens with just replacing...
Agree with Kerndog and even at that I target high 12 low 13's for a ratio. Every adjustment you make will affect everything else. An engine will survive running rich every time. It'll survive lean a few times.
