    440 Oil Passage Question

Yes, EVERYTHING needs to be checked and there are many who do not know what to check. I've built several engines over the years and have never run into a clogged oil passage in a head including passages in the block. It's also a good idea to clean all those passages before assembly. But the way...

Interior reassembly question - '73 Charger

I'm not 100% on this but you will probably figure it out as you go, some vehicles are a little difficult to get the package tray installed if the sail panels are installed 1st. I "believe" the package tray is underneath the sail panels where they meet.

Coronet Value Gaining on Charger from Hagerty

The 68 Charger grille is absolute perfection, I thought that they disturbed perfection by changing it for the 69 Chargers. My first Charger was a 69,but I preferred my parents 70 over the 69. I thought that the 70 grille was a throwback to the clean original design of the 68 Charger grille. The...

Classic Cars and Cell Phones Don't Mix Well

I think I recall from past threads on the subject that Haggerty works differently in Canada than it does in the states. As a long-time Hagerty customer, I have had chance to have a claim with them in the past and it could not have gone any smoother. They were very polite and helpful. I had my...

Small block timing cover cover question

If your vibration damper (harmonic balancer) has the shield on the rear, like the one in the following image, the felt ring fits inside it. If it does not have the shield, it is not used. The felt ring captures seepage that may get past the main seal.

Small block timing cover cover question

The aluminum timing chain cover leaked coolant from corrosion after only 58 years . The gasket kit came with a felt seal . Does this get used on a ‘66 Polyhead 318 ? There want one when I removed the cover . Thank you What types of sealant are we using ? Thank you

measuring piston to deck clearance on 440 source dished piston

Understood. Degreeing the cam looks like rocket science to most people, me included. Special tools are needed, which a lot of people do not have. Thats why the average person lines them up dot to dot and done. It is a starting point. I have to dig deeper with this engine. I have a degree kit...

Classic Cars and Cell Phones Don't Mix Well

This topic is a real can of worms, and I'm going to hedge and ask any folks who worked full time in insurance to chime in. I worked with claims in house for a 900 truck tank line, dealing with multiple layers of coverage, provided by different insurers. We were self insured for the first $100K...
