Who has NEVER had a cam or lifter go bad?

the E.P.A has killed oil they have taken out the additives that help keep our engines running i use the green oil only for 39 years it has the most zinc that can be used . i have always ran 20w-50 oil also as the oil has more cushion as a heavy oil. now days it is a semi synthetic blend and i...

    Shot adjusters and pushrods

I'll assume the following; The cam bearing holes are lined up so oil is getting to the shafts. The shafts are installed with the oil holes down in the correct location. The adjuster ball/pushrod cup were the same size. The adjustment/pushrod length is correct allowing the adjuster 2 threads out...

Can a High Volume oil pump suck the floor up?

This is what I was thinking, but now that I have my first trap door pan, I don't know how the oil around the pick up may act under hard acceleration. The car carries the wheels up about a whole foot, and then comes down quick, so oil is not always out back. I mean, with a regular deep sump 7 Qt...

    Harland Sharp oiling issue?

Thank you! Just what i wanted to hear! I will convert to oil thru pushrods this winter and use a ball/ball pushrod. Down side with full time oiling is the restrictors you have to use. I’m working on a solution to do that without needing to lift the heads to change restrictors or lift the intake...

FOR SALE Chrome 360 Oil Pan NIB

Bought a chrome 360 oil pan from Speedway that I won't be using. Will fit most Mopars from '62 up from what I understand. New in box never installed. $50 plus the ride.

Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

What might be happening here is the additive, a compound containing Zinc, does break down, but the element zinc does not leave, except by what might be found in the filter or at an oil change.

New 360 build with oil leaking into coolant

Also I finally made oil pressure to the rockers, but like I said took a bit. Didn't notice the oil out the water pump until the oil pump ran dry......but that sounds like what it's doing. See what I find later today with pressure test.

Noise / rattling during cruise /idle with video

Hi, first post here and first older Mopar :) I have a noise, a ticking/knocking noise when i drive, specially during cruise at around 30-50mph. What could this be? I have enough oil in it, 20w50. Sounds harder in the video than in real life, but it resembles that of a lifter problem. Quiet when...

    Front sump pan,440

Hello guys...I think first post. I posted on sweptline.org, but because a 440 thought I would try here. You folks have forgot more than this 77 yr. old guy ever knew. Oil pan capacity/dipstick is the big questions. New to me, 68 Dodge D100 short box stepside, with 440 now. Seller told me...

I’m currently fixing oil leaks at timing cover and oil pan, I’m thinking while I’m in here I should change the timing chain also. Should I upgrade the cam and if so what would be a good one to use?

The latest annoying trend: notched spoilers

I couldn't tell where they came from . I have more than enough stuff in my garage I have no idea where it came from ! EPA mandated fuel mileage is the real answer . It why we have recessed door handles and hidden wiper blades . Engineering has been tasked with minute incremental reductions in...

Slow oil drip from oil pan drain plug

Don't put sealer on the bolt threads. You will hate it. Try different type of sealing washers, like a copper or aluminum, and tighten it up. The oil plug is straight threads, not meant for sealing, that's what the washer is for. If you put anything on the threads count on it ending up inside...

    360 oil pan?

Any 1971 - 1980 passenger car 360 oil pan will work for the 1990 truck 360 engine in your 1973 Charger. There were two versions of the 360 car pan with a slightly different placement of the "center" sump, which is really only a concern with earlier A-bodies with respect to their K-member. You...

Points or no points? That is the question.

Matching the ECU, coil resistance and ballast resistance are all important. @HALIFAXHOPS gave me those specs but I'll be darned if I can find my notes. May be he will be gracious enough to repeat them. I could post them in a sticky so we can find them easier.

Blown Head gasket or more? 440 70 Superbee

Worse than expected I have lost the push rod and have lots of slack in other rockers. What kind of oil do you use in the engine? Lifters alone might not be the answer. If the lifters are taping id expect a lobe or 2 gone on the cam. Take the intake off and inspect the lifters and pull them...

2019 5.7 crate engine not building oil pressure - Need some G3 Hemi gurus

The handset (aka the oil pressure sender connected to the ECU harness) is plumbed into the/a oil port in the front the block where the original sending unit was (I believe). I also have a manual gauge plumbed into the return line from the oil filter which showed a slight bit of oil but no...

There is a lot of land overseas. Like to know what you think of it. I probably will buy one, mine kisses my oil pan.

    440 Oil Passage Question

Yes, EVERYTHING needs to be checked and there are many who do not know what to check. I've built several engines over the years and have never run into a clogged oil passage in a head including passages in the block. It's also a good idea to clean all those passages before assembly. But the way...
