I'll say this - there are two possible reasons why that MSD unit is in your garage - either someone used it and it failed, or the car it was used in was sold on and the unit was kept.

For me it is a digital Satellite finder....used for aligning satellite dishes. I have another meter which is used for digital TV signal alignment also....which is a breeze to use by comparison. Eye-balling and seat-of-the-pants alignment doesn't cut the mustard in the digital signal world...
