It’s just aluminum sheet, riveting to the 1/4 and bumper.

It may just be me but I can’t see having the strainer bottom touching the bottom of the oil pan (in yellow). A 1/4” of clearance sounds much better to me.

Huh ??? The ballast only reduces voltage to the coil - not the rest of the car !!

Define "loss of power". When this happens, is there no electrical device in the car that will work ? Any lights, radio, wipers, heater fan ? Or, does engine stall out and electrical items still work ?

My thoughts as well, if it needs a few mins to cool down and then it restarts, usually a sign something electrical is over heating. Especially if it keeps happing after the first shut down.
