I have used this on some fasteners. It works really well to darken the parts. I have sometimes sprayed them with oil based flat clear after dipping to keep them from getting rusty long term. Looks very close to oil. The oil works great too. Just not as long.

I finally got a chance to use a bottle of Caswell Black Oxide dip on a couple of rusty bolts. This is like a parkerized finish. Blasted the bolt, cleaned, dipped for 30 seconds, rinsed and oiled. I'm not certain it is a factory finish but it should work fine.

I'll tell you what, I am using a set of Firecore wires and a GM style distributor cap with male top connections and they are my favorite by far but expensive. Maybe the wife can hook you up for Christmas.

Geoff, thanks for the tip! The dashpots on both sides (this is on a 351C) were replaced when rebuilding a while back and are functioning well. I have been through the air door spring adjustments and got rid of a lean bog on take-off a while back, so all good on that...
