Ohio Super Bird goes for 210k at Estate Auction

Something very odd about this car. Notice the "patina" on the air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, oil filler cap, vacuum advance, radiator, etc. But the engine paint looks relatively fresh. Is it odd to everyone the fender tag is not body color? The auctioneer mentions that 7 of the VINs were...

    Look at this plug...

I use a sharpie to mark a line along the plug body to indicate the "open" side of the electrode, then install plug with open side facing up into the combustion chamber. Sometimes have to go through 2 or 3 sets of plugs to index them all.

What's it Worth 1968 Charger value - HELP

Biuying anything in pieces is a crap shoot. You have to assume that small hard to find (read expensive or non-existant) parts are not there. Ever tried to source the little rods that operate the door latches or the door locks? Little items like that tend to pile up.

    Harbor Freight "freebies?"

Don't live on facebook, but occasionally look at groups of interest (71-74 Chargers). But these has been a run lately of "disgruntled" Harbor Freight "employees" posting a way to get free stuff (Daytona jacks, Icon tool sets) by clicking a link and answering 4 questions. Applying "if it's too...

Best way to remove 4 speed trans

Also back in the day you put a bottle jack under the motor to tip it down to get clearance for the tranny, it is best to remove at least the radiator shroud, (and probably the radiator) for clearance for the fan as the back of the motor drops. As stated above, real men don't use a jack, even on...

Petty v Baker 1973 Daytona 500 - Check out the fender tweaking!!

"Grand National" was the original term for the top tier, then it became "Winston Cup Grand National" in 1971, which became "Winston Cup," then Nextel Cup, Sprint Cup, etc. Then there was Late Model Sportsman, which became the Busch series, now Xfinity.

Petty v Baker 1973 Daytona 500 - Check out the fender tweaking!!

NASCAR only used the "long template" (front of nose to back of rear decklid) until about 1975. The split seen in the center of the decklid spoilers (usually covered with super tape) in this era was clearance to allow the long template to sit on the decklid. The width templates came into play...

Good Guy Alert - a gift at Carlisle from T2R9

Member T2R9 had a leftover rear seat for a 71-4 Charger, which he has donated to my 71. A few years ago my best friend said "The next best thing to having nice toys is having friends with nice toys." This just got topped by having nice friends with free toys.

Petty v Baker 1973 Daytona 500 - Check out the fender tweaking!!

Harry Hyde ran the 71/72 Charger body due to the smaller rear quarter window allowing less air into the car. Also note how wide the panel is from the interior to the window to try to prevent air from entering the car. Things like that lead to a NASCAR rule limiting the width of panels to the...
