1972 RR 440 won’t start after running fine. Battery and fuses seem good. Replaced alternator, voltage regulator and ballast resistor. Any ideas?

So I drive it once a week for a few hours throughout the summer. Just recently pulled into a gas station, filled up and then went to start with no luck. There was only a single click and then nothing. Hooked my battery jumper up and it started after a few tries. Second the jumper disconnected...

Which alternator do I want for my 72 440?

So my alternator is dead. I believe the 440 is out of a 75 motorhome. Anyways it has what looks like a 2 V groove pulley on it with only one belt attached. Is that the right alternator setup for this? I see they sell ones with 1 groove pulley too.

Just pulled the spark plugs in my new to me 440 and they are not the same size as the ones I got to replace them. What are the chances?

I noticed that the plugs were not the same on both sides so I decided to change them. I believe my 440 is out of a 1975 motorhome. On one side were autolite 3926 and on the other side NGK BKR6E11. They are 5/8 and I cannot find either of them listed for 440/383 engines. I bought plugs off of...

Can’t get new reverse light bulb back in socket on my 1972 Plymouth Satellite

So the old bulbs were rusted and not working. I got them out, cleaned the contacts and when the new bulb touches the contact it now lights up just fine. However even with bulb grease I can’t get the bulb to stay in. They just keep popping out. Almost like they aren’t in all the way but I’ve...

Replacing reverse light sockets. Any idea which Dorman part is correct for my 72 Satellite? Rockauto only has brake light sockets.

So I believe the bulbs for the reverse lights are 1156 and brake lights are 1157 but on rockauto the only socket I see is listed as brake light. Any idea which Dorman part is right for the reverse lights? Unfortunately both my sockets have rusted out due to trapped water.

Replacing temp sender. Am I missing a boot or can I wrap the wire around the sender and secure with a rubber clamp/tape?

So my temp gauge doesn’t work. The wire at one point was disconnected and I decided to replace the sender while I’m in at it. I’d imagine a boot usually pops on over the sending unit but all I have is a wire. Do you think I could just strip the wire back and wrap it around the sending unit?

Tried using a timing gun on my 318 RR tonight. What do you think of the numbers I got? Anything telling or changes you’d make?

So after reading a bunch of posts here I wanted to try my hand with a digital timing light (also has tachometer built in). The engine is running pretty smoothly but wanted to see what you all thought. Would love any input. At idle (after it’s warmed up) my RPMs were roughly 730 and drops about...

I’m looking to replace some of my old fuses (maybe I’m over thinking this) but any recommendations on where I can buy quality fuses from?
