    Not that long ago some high output marine 4 stroke engines had alarmingly small oil pans, it was to save weight, but they probably figured out that they needed more oil capacity for overall better performance. Today's engines have closer to 6 or more quarts, rather than the four, they used to have.

    I’ve always thought oil capacity has an effect on cooling. I drive a Camry as a daily driver. It’s a small 4 cylinder and yet it holds the same amount of engine oil as my 68 charger. Always wondered why all the auto manufacturers ran so little oil capacity vs the engine sizes back in the day...

    New tank? Who's sending unit? Bad sending units have long been discussed, not compatible with our gauges. Also, you may have the wrong sending unit. Van's in Wapun, Wisconsin. Have heard that they have a sending unit that is now compatible with our gauges.
