Many posts about our 60’s era cars electrical systems that discuss alternator upgrades, bulkhead bypass, amp gauge bypass, relays for headlights and LED conversion. All suggesting various changes to the stock electrical systems of these cars.

My LED lighting (nearly the whole house) is rock steady, never a flicker, and rarely ever have a bulb stop working. I use the warm white bulbs, around 3000K, they have about the same hue as the old incandescents. Some of the circular overhead lights actually have a switch for colour...
As I guessed, it was something simple.... I had it wired correctly but the ignition switch (which is a GM unit) was not making contact in the run position, thus my "switched" devices were not getting power (like the HVAC).
I investigated the map light situation and as it turns out when I was...
I don't know about "less", but /6Dan's on point...I put some of those 'retro-fit' LEDs in mine and didn't notice any difference at all.
I'll be following this one!
these work great, way better than original, started to restore the charger, but its not going to happen now, so I am going to start parting it out.
I have a set of Headlight Experts 5 inch sealed beam headlights for sale, used for less than a 1 year on my 72 charger, these are like new.
1 set...
Not sure where to start on these 2 final issues. Hard to tell color of 2 wires heading down to the a833 trans switch for b/u lights.
As far as no dash lights, where would start on those?
Before the dash was installed, i had the seller install LED blue dash bulbs….. beginning to think- can i get...
Heard about some led replacement dash lights that are a little brighter, non polar and dimmable, so those are on order. This also seemed a perfect time to replace all the indicator lights while its open so #57 bulbs here we come.
LED Turn signals require LED compatible flasher units, the normal flashers rely of current to heat a thermal switch AKA a bi-metallic strip to make & break contact... LED's draw significantly less power so the lights never flash... Also LED are polarity specific and usually on a Mopar the...
Play field looks good in the pictures. Absolutely it's a great price. I wouldn't sell mine for twice that price.
Look for the batteries to be remotely installed as they leak and damage the PCB.
We have been hoodwinked on lifespan claims. Half of my new LED shop lights died within 4 years. Last year I upgraded the high ceiling lights in my moth-in-laws place so I would never have to change them again..... nope. Half of them are dead within one year. It's hot there, but still.... 1 year?
I have a 68 Charger and read every ralley gauge cluster thread here and across the web- and I still cannot solve this issue.
My dead gauges came back functioning after I replaced the IVR with the RTE solid state limiter but something along thr way happened and now when I turn my lights on, my...

What a difference. I had the tower type LEDs in the Coronet and I was not impressed with the brightness. They were the white, so maybe red LEDs would've made more of a difference. I'm back to the 1157s.
I also have Rustoleum Gloss White rattle can on my shelf, going to give it a try.
All these years I’ve had the car, I’ve never seen my own taillights. I am on a trip and was told yesterday that my brake lights seemed dim.
My other Charger is absolutely dim but I havent gone through the car yet.
I’m not against the LED stuff. It is worth considering.
Everything works, it just...
Nope... LED headlights just plug into the OE connectors, for the other bulbs like brake lights, turn signals the flasher unit should be chnaged to an electronic one.
A major advantage of LED headlights is they draw much lower current so they work just fine with OE wiring provided it is in good...
That's what I'm doing, too...and I have a cool mod planned for the console courtesy lights in my '70 Charger, just waiting on one more item to arrive from Amazon...I'll post it in Grendel's project thread. Those bulbs you linked are the more modern wedge slot type, though. You can buy LED bulbs...
1970 Road Runner - I'd like to make my tail lights & brake lights brighter. I've been looking at some 1157 LED bulbs and searched the forums here. I saw a reference about "LED turns signals won't work". So my question....is there a LED 1157 tail/stop light bulb that can be installed in a 1970...
