    They call the wind Mariah....

How is the girl going to find him, if God can not? Dopey fool should not have left her. I did not watch the movie.

Stop on in for a cup of coffee!

Thank you re the arch. It is a bit less than a circle. I notched the posts 1 1/4 inch and drilled holes for rebar. To the left is a swing that I built a while ago. Another job that was not authorized by a higher authority. I can read music, and used to play an accordion, but my left big finger...

    Is your job boring?

I was self employed from age 40 to 72, and now retired, but working on more stiff than I ever dreamed about. That includes my 77 Dodge camper van. But every few days I ride my SV1000 around my Island. 50 corners from my place to the coffee shop at the other end. That is not boring. Driving a new...

Stop on in for a cup of coffee!

Good morning from the left coast. I built my house during Covid. Was just after that when prices went silly. None of that glued together stuff. Bought a decent Yamaha key board about two years ago. Still need to learn how it works. Save that for crappy winter days. A good battery maintainer was...

Stop on in for a cup of coffee!

Morning coffee here. Rain forecast starting tomorrow, for a week or more. So I will finish burning, mow the damp grass, weed whack the perimeter, and other outdoor stuff.

Lookie here - popped up in my YT feed.....

I can not afford to burn rubber, and I do not have enough power, and my van weighs too much. Wet grass maybe

    Is your job boring?

I do not have time for a day job, but I did work full time for 52 years. I also have no motivation for a day job. It is possible I will get most of my retirement jobs done this winter. The ticking sound in the mighty 318 is one of my winter chores.

Stop on in for a cup of coffee!

Have my coffee. Slept in a bit, not raining, lawn needs mowing. But I think I will weigh the propane tanks, turn on heaters in the sheds, take a heater to the boat. Concrete slabs are slow to cure, so I will leave them a few more days. Some time I have to make new pipes for the winter bike...

Plans for your car after you die

JTWRS, is joint tenants with right of survivor. This also needs to be studied. if it is a simple estate, with not too much $$, and the logical thing to do, then it may work. If it is a large estate with competing beneficiaries, then a sharp lawyer will use the grey area of the law, and it may...

For all you Swifties out there. JK, I know there are none, but this is a funny story.

Shirley is a TS fan. I do not know any TS songs. Watching the All Blacks play France. Real men playing a real game.

Last week I ordered their famous bagel thing for breakfast. Girl enquired for my name for the order. Michael. How do you spell that. I told her. Famous bagel thing arrived with my name tag. Michall

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Rocks are 1000 to 2000 pounds each. A bit of a struggle to move.

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Rudolph came in from the cold. He got his broken foot fixed, a new seat with new foam inside, and a leather cover, and a fresh coat of paint. Some of his joints were loose and a few screws and glue fixed that. The problem now is, he likes being warm, and is not keen to go completely outside, so...

What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

I am almost finished the bridge over the pipes to the septic field. The inspector is checking my work. On Friday I poured concrete for 8 slabs. 20 X 20 X 3.5. These are for the utility shed which is sinking a bit, and for steps to the bridge. Inspector pic is on my phone.

    the daily rant

The mansion expansion will be 12 x 14, attached in a similar way to the front porch. The house got mostly new stuff. All my old stuff still in boxes can go in the addition, which will be not visible from the road. Can also be the guest room, winter inside stay warm work room.

    Slant six B bodies

I used to own a 64 four door sedan with a slant six. Not much power, but it was the best winter car I ever owned. Did 20 mpg on an imperial gallon. Also owned a 72 Fargo step side pickup. It was a bit better for fuel economy. But I crashed it in the snow. My one and only serious crash. No damage...

    the daily rant

My daily rant has subsided. The RDN, regional district of Nanaimo, the folks that do the building inspections, are a real pain, and difficult to deal with. My new house was approved for occupancy, but I have a shed that was not approved. So no final. Yesterday the inspector approved the new...

Stop on in for a cup of coffee!

Us guys out on the left coast, are the last to get up, and we are last to turn out the lights later. Just had my morning coffee. Pouring a bit more concrete today. Rain again starts tomorrow. I have about one more week of outside work, then I get to be a mechanic again.

At what point did NEW lifters become junk out of the box and were.......

Thank you Geoff. I have adjustable pushrods. They are a bit thicker than the stock units. 5/16 and 1/4 from memory. My plan was to adjust them with the inlet manifold removed. That would allow a bit more room. I will remove tne manifold to remove the hydraulic lifters, and inspect the cam.
