From what I know and have seen over the years camshaft manufacturers always specify HOT lash settings.
The lash obviously needs to be correct when the engine is hot.
Like Rick said if you want to set them cold depending on head material etc you reduce the gap used.
I will usually warm up the...
Someone had posted where the bodyshop had everything done and painted.. then they had to rip back into the window opening to reshape it for the trim..
A blue 68-9 Dodge I think..
Mock the trim first!
Thanks KD. Any ideas about the tight steering? I noticed that it was very difficult to get the center link on with the headers. Wondering if the pitman arm might be binding with the steering assembly?
The locking steering is not related to the linkage underneath. It is inside the column right near the ignition lock cylinder like so:
That black plate is cogged, in this picture there is a pin near 12:00 that engages in a recess in the plate to lock the steering. If the steering shaft is...
You have expensive tastes,
I don't know what that 1 of 2 Delahaye is worth, but a similar but probably less valuable Talbot-Lago coupe, with F&F bodywork sold for thirteen million dollars and some change.
The Delahaye was specifically built to represent France at the New York World's Fair, in 1939.
While I'm rebuilding the rear axle, I have another question. Did these 8 3/4 axles have ID tags for 3.23 and Suregrip even though the differential pulls out the front (i.e. no back cover like a dana)? If so, were they in the same position - 5 & 7 o'clock?
The ones on my 66 Satellite look like the short ones. But I can’t be sure they are original. The ones on my 67 GTX are the same short ones but again I would question they are originals. I had Snake Oyle do my 67 belts 25 years ago and the fellow who use to do a lot of belts for B-Body forum...

So I have all the steering assembly together and torqued to specification. And there are two issues. Before I start disassembling to isolate the issue I wanted to run it by you guys.
Issues:
1. Steering is tight. With the wheels off and no load the steering is not extremely stiff. I didn’t...
In a word, no. Something in the 3000-3500 range is what you need. What rear end ratio do you have? If the combo is mismatched the performance will be underwhelming…
The part about the distributor needing to be grounded reminds me of something, I believe, @HALIFAXHOPS, spoke of and that is the block and the underside of the distributor need a clean connection. Sometimes re-painted blocks are a problem and another problem is sometimes a paper or similar...
Nice work. Stainless steel is great because it can be fine sanded and buffed/polished...like an automotive clearcoat, it's just a much harder material. It's easier to work with than anodized aluminum, at least. That needs to be stripped of anodizing before you can polish it up.
