I was curious myself so looking into it I found may fit your poly. Check this site and it shows it uses the same spin on filter... Please check thoroughly but if it shares the same oil filter I could not see why it would not fit.

I don't know how much of a change you would have to experience before it would make a significant difference. Perhaps one of the carb experts could respond.
I would check the pressure switch (aka: 'points)... usually located under a cover that the wires go to. The contacts can get corroded, just like an old distributor. It's where you can also 'tweek' the max pressure build cut-off.
My go-to guy for paint and body in Colorado does amazing work, however a friend took in his Boss 302 for a new paint job and he said it is $12k for just materials before he lays one finger on the car.
