I do agree, lifting a battery requires you to be in almost the worst possible position for your back to remain healthy.
I try to buy batteries with built in handles whenever possible.

I saw the clutch pedal. Obviously not factory if an original U code. I’d add the 4 speed, even though it’s a cast crank, again if original. Actually… I’d drop one of the forged cranks I have laying around in it. I guess 9 1/4” rear.
It may be a bad pickup coil.
If you have another distributor you can test it loose just plug it in and spin the shaft and you should gets good blue/ white sparks.
