Kids, Permanent Black Markers, Classic Cars Don't Mix

Goof off. Just did some rust repair on my Lincoln. I used it to get fresh overspray and primer off for spots I was working on. It took fresh paint and primer off but didn’t hurt the original factory paint. If the markers are fresh I’m sure it will work. It has to be Goof Off and not Goo Be...

My least favorite thing about classic cars is...

Least favorite thing is mice and other insects that attack your car, usually when in winter storage. Wasps built a nest behind my Ram Trucks side view mirror, and mice got in the Charger and looks like they were up in the dash :(

Hydraulic Roller Cam Button End Play

If the rear cam plug is out you can put a dial indicator on the back of the cam to measure end play. might be able to do the same off a cam love with an indicator that measures at an angle? I think the cover gasket is around 0.010" thick? Maybe trim the cam button to where the cover just...

Johnny Mopar, I have been enjoying watching the videos. The videos from 72 Road Runner GTX are really good information too.

    Ten Rules for Maximum Cooling

Also not all high volumes pumps are high volume. While putting a hemi in a RR about 12 yrs ago I ordered a high volume water pump to install and even though it had the flat plate added to the front side of the blades you couldn't see how well the back side of the blades fit to the bevel inside...

    727 swapped for what

Because it was custom built, your best bet is to remove the transmission and count the splines on the transmission input shaft. The 1965 pushbutton transmission would have originally had a 19-spline input shaft, but because you have what sounds like a later cast crank converter, the input shaft...

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

The stock pulleys should take an 11/32 belt. Needing anything more is indicative of a worn out pulley and it won't last long. Before writing it off as a bad pulley I'd check the water pump to see if the impeller is rubbing the housing, and if your fan clutch is seized if you haven't already

    Bipolar fuel gauge

That's a good point and I ran a new shielded wire a few years ago. That's the first thing I checked and there are no breaks in the wire. I bit the bullet and bought a new sender, I have little hope that it will fix the issue

    Transmission oil pan leaking slightly

On the main trans housing they can leak from the pan gasket, selector shaft seal as above, the filler tube O-ring, and the rear band pivot O-ring(s) at the back of the case. Be careful with the oil pan bolts, seems they get stripped out often, not sure if from cross-threading or over-tightening...
