Agree. Too bad they didn't build them that way. The few I have seen with the vinyl removed didn't seem to have any factory work that necessitated covering it with vinyl.

While you have the pump out, remove the rod plug and check your push rod and measure it. It should be 3.22, or just a tiny bit under 3 1/4" long. If not, you might want to consider replacement. I't is a common problem with the big blocks. To hold up the rod, you are correct with thick...

Hello all, My fuel pump crapped out, and I need to install a replacement. I have already pulled the old pump, but have a question on the best way to position things to install the new pump. I plan on rotating the engine for the eccentric on the cam to allow the fuel pump pushrod to receed...
