I had the best luck taking that stuff off when it is a bit cold actually, like below freezing. You skim it with an air chisel and it comes off in huge chunks.

Yep, I already installed a different fan switch and it works on all speeds. This heater control assembly is a spare I'm restoring. Everything else was good. I just wanted to point out a relatively easy part to test and fix before yarding out the heater box.

any suggestions on a 1969 RR bolt on fiberglass hood with hemi 2 four cross ram clearance. I hear that a six pack hood will not give me clearance.

The 2 sleeve nuts on either side of the down pipe were rounded off when I got the Bee and I have an exhaust leak at the manifold on cyl 2 so I need to get it off somehow. Any suggestions on how to tackle this?

I don't have experience with a 65, but i'm guessing that your issue may be at the rear terminals of the alterantor ( amp meter) gauge. A short to ground on either wire connected to this gauge will burn up the link. In my 66 Charger, the 2 studs that come from the rear of the alt gauge housing...
And to add further, if the transmission functions just fine and doesn't make any noise I wouldn't do anything further other than stopping the leak. No sense in rebuilding something that doesn't need rebuilt lol.
