Any actual auto body guys here? I have a question about what is considered totaled.

If the quarter and the frame are damaged, it'll be totaled. The book value is probably not very high on that model and of course, they will scrounge up some used parts, if possible, for any repairs. If the repairs are $4-5K, they'll total it.

I was just thinking about not seeing any posts by him lately. RIP Bob.

    Built vs Bought

I had to double check which forum I was on. For a minute there I thought I logged onto the Factory Five forum with the broke dick "built not bought" chest-pounding hack crowd....lol.

The cost of a paint job.

I like how they hid the labels in that pic....lol. There is a ton of markup in paint and some of the top tier material is the exact same stuff found in the lower-level line at one third the price. If you shop around, you can save on materials. PPG Deltron/NXT DCU2021 clear. $1000/gallon, or...

The cost of a paint job.

Someday I might add up the receipts for the body and paint materials. Maybe. Of course, the paint rep at the body shop did a pretty good job of sticking it up my *** for materials and supplies. Like list plus 20%, or more, on some things. I'm glad I'll never have to deal with Industrial Finishes...

For Sale: Not Mine 2,400-Mile 1975 Plymouth Road Runner 400 on Bring A Trailer

Interesting that it had A/C, power disc brakes, AM/FM but no power steering.

The cost of a paint job.

It's hard to find a shop around here to do restoration work, for one, because it's a pain in the a$$, and two, they can make way more money, way faster, doing collision work, not tie up a bay for months on end and not have to deal with customers running out of money. None of the body shops...

    Happy Halloween!!??

I hid out in the garage last year, but this year I broke down and bought some candy for the little monsters. Of course, the rain reappeared, right on schedule, so probably zero, or very few, trick or treaters will be out this year. Yes, I'm out in the garage checking out some parts for the GTX...

    AC yes or no

Yes on A/C and it won't cost anywhere close to 10K even if you pay someone to install it. I've spent decades driving or sitting in traffic with no A/C. All but one of my hot rods now have A/C. The haters can whine, but my V-code GTX is getting a Classic Auto Air system.

    Classic Industries Dash Harness

I'm debating on replacing the dash harness on my 70 GTX. Classic has one in stock at a decent discount this weekend and they are backordered at Year One. Any idea who makes the OER branded part at Classic? The reviews are good. Supposedly the YO harnesses are M&H. Evans does not list a dash...

I think some cars have been found through the Lost Muscle Cars group on FB. You can also post on the GTX owners groups there as well.

I think you have your answer right there. There are some Mopar parts for sale groups on FB that are about 99% scams.

    1970 Air Grabber Box Color

That's the part. More gray with a very slight brownish tint in the sunlight. I had thought about blasting it with some walnut shell media, but I don't think that would blend in the discoloration of the scratches. Glass might really make a mess of it. I might have to take it to the paint store...

    1970 Air Grabber Box Color

I'm looking for info on what would be the correct color to refinish the Air Grabber box on my 70 GTX after I repair some scrapes and scratches that are visible when the hood is open. I've seen a dark walnut used on 69 air boxes that looked pretty good. My air box looks a lot more gray than...

I learned me something today about torque-to-yield bolts.

It's highly unlikely the bolt that the man-bun wearing, internet sensation was waving around would even be used to secure a caliper torque member to an upright. Just because a bolt torquing procedure lists an angle value doesn't necessarily mean the bolt is a one-time use torque to yield bolt...

Brake Pedal Not Returning & Weak Braking – ’73 Dodge Charger (Black Out Booster + Wilwood MC & Brakes)

It looks like Hydratech, Sweeting, CPP, Dr. Diff and E-bay vendors all have kits. Some are pretty pricey for what you get, especially when it comes to the hoses. A return spring wouldn't hurt to ensure the pedal returns fully to the stop. Hydroboost systems won't tolerate backpressure in the...
