what carb to use on stock 383

If it is tall geared [ up to 3.23 ], I would use the Edel 650 AVS2 or factory 625 AVS. The secs on the AVS2 carb are 1/16" larger than the factory 625 AVS, so check for intake clearance. If numerically higher gear than 3.23, factory 750 AVS.

Going to try repair my fuel tank sending unit we will see how it goes

It is not hard, it is being done everyday; it is a very simple device: a wire wound resistor with a wiper arm. You cannot get that wrong if installed correctly. This assumes the resistance is correct.

Going to try repair my fuel tank sending unit we will see how it goes

Do not agree that the rheostat is in good shape. It has come away from the support plate & may give erroneous readings. Looks like corrosion on the support plate has built up & forced the rheostat away from it. I would buy a new sender. You hear reports about bad senders but most just need...

    Intake crossover block off

I go halfway. I use a thin steel plate with a 1/2" hole in it to block the exh xover. You want some heat to vapourise the fuel. Eventually the intake will heat soak with or without the exh over in place.

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

I have an original Dayco catalog. Designations such as '13' or '15' referred to 1/32" increments. So a '13' belt was 13/32" wide.

Kern, Just as many cars put the ign coils on the f'wall or inner fender away from heat, may have needed longer wires [ more cost? ]....but still did it.

    Ignition Issues

I am not surprised the coil is 'hot'. Mounted on a hot engine is going to cook the 'coil' & reduce the spark output. A most stupid idea from many manufacturers. You will need to swap the coil to see if it has failed. As to the BEST coil, need to know more about the type of dist.

440 no start, any guesses guidance?

11.3v at the ECU sounds about right. There will be some voltage drop across the harness, plus gauges etc that will be drawing current.

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

I would be looking at what accessories/devices these belts are driving. P/S & A/C? Belt squeal with all these different belts is not normal. Maybe one of the driven accessories is failing internally, building up a lot of friction/resistance.

    Glad I changed camshafts

No FT cam is going to like a 436# spring rate, new lifters or not....

Fan belts squealing - can’t seem to solve

Cogged/notched belts have less rubber in them. So they stretch more. Try & find some plain old fashioned belts..
