That's how I lost the 440 in my Hurst 300. Ran great, but ended up taking out the oil system. I was a dumb kid, and hadn't taken the valve covers off. Didn't know what the chunks were, in the drain oil.
I have used this on some fasteners. It works really well to darken the parts. I have sometimes sprayed them with oil based flat clear after dipping to keep them from getting rusty long term. Looks very close to oil. The oil works great too. Just not as long.
Yup, I did an engine rebuild years ago for exactly that.
Yes, you can, and should remove the oil pan. You can swing the centerlink out of the way to remove the pan.
Id just pour some oil in the pump install and start it. You will have oil pressure just as quickly as when you change oil. Oil pressure faster if you prefill the filter some, I know its on its side but it will hold some oil.
Note that mounting an oil-filled coil vertically, is for its internal oil to better circulate around the coil's internal windings for cooling purposes...
As a coil heats up its efficiency is affected and its voltage/current/output can/will decrease..
Just my $0.02...
This is a Mopar Small Block Oil Pump & Pickup Tube. It came off
of a 1972 340, but should work on most, if not all small blocks.
It is in good condition, but could use a cleanup due to sitting
on a shelf in the garage for many years. It is USA made, not a
china knockoff. $35.00. Local pickup...
Did the oil light come on or the gauge read zero ? Is that how you discovered you were low on oil? If the suction tube is on the bottom of the pan, you should still have oil pressure with 3.5 quarts. A lot of 440s only had 4 quart pans.
I was changing the oil in my charger yesterday and got thinking, if there was a fan shroud in here I might not be able to get the filtre out without taking something apart.
It’s already tricky enough to get a filtre full of oil in and out and install horizontally. In fact, before I bought the...
I have 69 SupeBee, 440 motor (not original), not sure of the year. I attached a picture of the oil pan. With a variety of oil pans possible, how do i know which fel-pro gasket to buy?
Oil cooler removed from a 6.4 Hemi crate engine. Engine never ran with it installed, stored in zip lock bag since removal. Has part # P5037523AB on sticker.

This is a Used OEM Big Block Oil Pump #2203260. It is original
not a china knockoff. It is in good condition, but could use a
clean up. It has the red pressure spring. The four original
attaching bolts are not shown in the pictures, but are included.
$30.00. Local pickup, or buyer pays shipping.
Has anyone installed the 440 Source extra thick steel oil pan with a windage tray and studs? I have one on order and I’m wondering if my current 1.3” long studs will be long enough? Most of mine barely have full thread engagement on the nuts now with 2 metal reinforced gaskets and a windage...
Coils can be oil-filled or epoxy-filled. Oil-filled coils are recommended to be mounted vertically because they can leak; with epoxy-filled coils, you don't have that issue. For that reason, I initially bought a Pertronix Flamethrower III coil (oil-filled) and because I didn't want to re-think...
