I can't see what your talking about from the pictures. Can you get all 4 corners bolt holes to line up? Is the intake too high, too low? You may not be able to use metal shim gaskets for the intake. I don't know what ascew means either. Not sure if you can look into the runners with a bore...
I do leave more room, and really even in my modern cars I leave the same amount of room I did when I got my license in 1988, but if an idiot jumps into the gap and then gets on their brakes for whatever reason it can be a problem. It was a regular occurrence when I had a daily bay area commute.

Ill post some pics here soon. These were in a Model A coupe I bought recently and went a different direction on the seats. The sliders work fine, just wish the seat backs were there and I would consider them complete.
Welcome. I switched all my bulbs to LED since the original bulbs can get rather hot and burn the plastic lens. If you need any parts PM me, I might be able to help with a source. I added a C body rear bezel on my console with the lighter and light.
Thinking about this for my 74 RR. I got the wilwood disc brake upgrade. Thought this would look nice. This on is a 1” bore is what I think I need, but there is a 1 1/8” bore too. Which do I need?
