Just to mention it make sure the front bearing is in good shape and the pilot bushing is as well. Ball bearings have poor side loading properties, and the pilot bushing help hold the input shaft in alignment, no seal will work right if the shaft can wobble or gets pushed to one side. Drain...
I think the recent upgrade is having a few glitches yet. I noticed that sometimes when I hit the like button, it works but when I come back to the thread a few minutes later, none of them took ahold.
(sorry - late response).. As I was working on the interior of my 73 Charger... to my surprise, mine's the same. It only latches on one side. Doesn't seem like a great design, but like the gentleman from WA stated: the big 3 were getting cheap heading into the malaise era.
