Are the trunk torsion rods painted on a 66 Belvedere? Thanks,

    Removal of factory spray?

It does if you spray it over dirt because the dirt will encapsulate the moisture like a sponge. That's why Rusty Jones and similar after-thought undercoatings never worked and, sometimes, even promoted rusting because they were sprayed OVER dirt, not paint. If it is sprayed on over fresh paint...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

I have a decent .540 lift Comp Xtreme Energy 292 in one of my cars. It has over 65,000 miles on it now. I have idled it for hundreds of hours over the years since built back around 2007 at all of our Hines cruises, downriver cruises, east side cruises and Woodward Dream cruises never with any...

    65 Satellite air conditioning

I recently purchased a 1965 Satellite (fulfilling a life long dream) that was originally equipped with air conditioning. Over the years, the a/c was ditched. The vents on the dash remain, but the outlets on the driver and passenger side are absent as is all the stuff necessary to bring it...

This is my third retirement... first two didn't take. If I go to Florida in January I'l stsy until late February. I usually build up the vacation fund by working a bit more.... this winter will be a bit leaner but we mooch off of my brother in law so we will still have a roof over our heads...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

The underlying thing with this issue to me is simple: - For decades, we didn't hear (or experience) multitudes of cam failures in engines, rebuilt or otherwise. Cams (and lifters) were made of certain metals (and were machined a certain way); oil was made a certain way (all dino, of course)...

This fricken old age is getting old....

Greatest fear I had while on the road was the possibility of a bad medical event in the middle of nowhere. Ironically, most of the guys I knew who drove until old age died in a hospital.

    Camshaft sizing help

The only way to be confident they won't hit is to measure. That being said I would be surprised if there was an issue on such a small cam. Lots here smarter than me,hopefully they will chime in. @PRHeads spec'd my cam and has forgotten more than I will ever know on camshafts.

    Camshaft sizing help

Ok thanks for that advise I appreciate it I already have the headers so I will sacrifice some low end. Your confident the piston to valve clearance will be ok? I will check clearance of course once I get all these components installed and measure and order push rods and if needed I will do...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

While oil plays a role I think there are many available out there that remove that from being the problem. I believe having the lifters checked before running them for correct taper is the single biggest issue.Throw in too much spring pressure on break in and you have a recipe for failure.

    Camshaft sizing help

I would think this would be in the ballpark and match up well with the rest of your setup. Hydraulic Roller Camshaft; 1959 - 1980 Chrysler 383-440 2000 to 6000 Howards Cams 720555-10 | Howards Cams I also think 1 7/8 headers (or even 1 3/4) will be plenty for what you are doing. You aren't in...
