Lots of great knowledge, and tips.any though on jetting 70 front 72 rear,my build is simple 360 30 over 921, speed pro pistons,268 comp cam,340 J head,Edelbrock RPM performer,650 VS HOLLEY,355 sg.its lots of fun.
My buddy found this in Canada at a swap meet. I need it for my 67 Dart( not original 340) hard to find a separate manifold.
Patience paid off and good friends.
Mopar people rule!!!
I DO know the 350 gets talked down vs the 327, for basically the same reasons as the 360 vs 340.
I call it "mystique".
But the legions of 350 fans pretty much overpower the rabid 327 is way better than the 350 crowd.
...really small engine compartment, it has a 440. I am a bb guy all day long. But I wouldn't rule out a sb if your budget is tight. You are quite lucky to have a 340 for starters. We have a 340 4 speed as well, but its in a duster.
Im theory the heads could work.
But, I am not a fan of...
I thought 71 and later 340's used a thermoquad from the factory? I am building a 1971 340 for a customer in my shop right now and he has what he says is the correct manifold for his Cuda and it is a thermoquad. I bought a thermoquad off Ebay number 9055S which is a 1971 with a manual...
A Euro car was a Lotus Europa until I found out how slow they were. Another Euro car was a Volvo 1800ES wagon. For some reason, I liked them back then. I could only imagine a 340 in one! Anyways, lets move away from the early 70's.....lol
I have a 1969 coronet 318 with a red engine, sept 1969 SPD, built in St Louis. Looks very original and dirty. I better get under and look for the Vin on it and the trans.
Yes the blue came in 1969 model year, even 340's.
Big argument on it on moparts years ago.
Well can 500hp be done with a stock stroke NA 340? 11.5 e.t. is the starting point, juice for even more fun where tech don't matter. yes I'm slightly unhinged
Also what will the torque be out of a 500hp 340?
This is a set of OEM Mopar Small Block Cylinder Head Bolts.
They are original, not china knockoffs. They came off of a
71 340, and are in good condition, just could use a cleanup.
$45.00. Local pickup, or buyer pays shipping.
A back in the day pic I just found of a 70 dart I was going to buy in the mid 80s for $1500 but passed because of the fender flairs.
I believe go wing was original?
Was a 340 4speed 3.91 car
My notes also suggest the "90" K-frame was used on all SB/BB V-8 engines, not 440/426, meaning the 383, 340 & 318 applications. This is the "light duty" V8 K-frame for B-body in 1970.
