how critical is installed valve spring height?

Thanks for the advice. I did not provide the shop any different retainers or locks so presumably they were reassembled using the same ones delivered by 440 Source - they certainly look what came on them. I wish I had taken baseline measurements before any work was performed so I'd know how...

Sorry for the loss of your friend. Way too young and it’s always tougher when they have not had a chance to really live… Take care.

The dual spring option on Stealths would be adequate for pretty much any HR cam you’d be looking at for your combo.

Higher quality input shaft seal A833

Playing around with the old seal after removal, it seems to be a very snug fit on the shaft - not seemingly worn oversize at all. Considering the amount of oil that was on the outside of the bearing retainer I’m now wondering if the issue all along was no sealer on the bearing retainer bolts...

Who can rebuild 67 Coronet AC Car Heater Valve?

I just bought one from this guy on eBay. Rebuilding only car valves is what he does most. I just bought one for my ‘65 Coronet through eBay as he had one built and ready to go. He did a great job. Whole unit was glass beaded looked 98% new. I was given a tracking number before end of day one of...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

Obviously, not every flat tappet cam install ends up in failure. It just seems to be a riskier endeavor than it once was. For the reasons brought up already. Sounds like the 5th time was the charm.

Ok everyone you’ve given me plenty to think about and quite a few task to get done. I will get busy on this and get the heads coming probably just order without springs so I can get the one that match the cam when I cross that road. And as always thanks a ton for all of your wisdom I really...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

My first two cam failures were almost 20 years ago. Both were in my 440/495. We want to think that we did everything right to ensure long life but it is always possible that some fatal mistake was made without even knowing. One cam crapped out not long after break in, the second one lasted...

how critical is installed valve spring height?

Did the heads get reassembled with different retainers/locks than they were delivered with? The reason I ask is, the IH on them is usually pretty close to 1.875, and should actually have increased slightly after the seat work. Have you verified the height mic is correct? Just set it to 1.875...

how critical is installed valve spring height?

I bought a new pair of 440 Source Stealth aluminum heads for my 383 build - 9.5:1 street build with HUG SEH1620BL-12 flat tappet hydraulic cam (specs below). Based on things I have read in this forum and elsewhere, I sent the heads to the machine shop to be checked and they reported that some of...

    318 to 440

I'd keep the 69 K-frame. Has the better idler arm setup. Also chances are the 318 came with 3.23 gears unless it has an A code option.

I should clarify that. You get back the time blown from commuting and being gone. Now your repossessed time can be spent at home.
