    Camshaft sizing help

The dual spring option on Stealths would be adequate for pretty much any HR cam you’d be looking at for your combo.

Higher quality input shaft seal A833

Playing around with the old seal after removal, it seems to be a very snug fit on the shaft - not seemingly worn oversize at all. Considering the amount of oil that was on the outside of the bearing retainer I’m now wondering if the issue all along was no sealer on the bearing retainer bolts...

Who can rebuild 67 Coronet AC Car Heater Valve?

I just bought one from this guy on eBay. Rebuilding only car valves is what he does most. I just bought one for my ‘65 Coronet through eBay as he had one built and ready to go. He did a great job. Whole unit was glass beaded looked 98% new. I was given a tracking number before end of day one of...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

Obviously, not every flat tappet cam install ends up in failure. It just seems to be a riskier endeavor than it once was. For the reasons brought up already. Sounds like the 5th time was the charm.

    Camshaft sizing help

Ok everyone you’ve given me plenty to think about and quite a few task to get done. I will get busy on this and get the heads coming probably just order without springs so I can get the one that match the cam when I cross that road. And as always thanks a ton for all of your wisdom I really...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

My first two cam failures were almost 20 years ago. Both were in my 440/495. We want to think that we did everything right to ensure long life but it is always possible that some fatal mistake was made without even knowing. One cam crapped out not long after break in, the second one lasted...

how critical is installed valve spring height?

Did the heads get reassembled with different retainers/locks than they were delivered with? The reason I ask is, the IH on them is usually pretty close to 1.875, and should actually have increased slightly after the seat work. Have you verified the height mic is correct? Just set it to 1.875...

how critical is installed valve spring height?

I bought a new pair of 440 Source Stealth aluminum heads for my 383 build - 9.5:1 street build with HUG SEH1620BL-12 flat tappet hydraulic cam (specs below). Based on things I have read in this forum and elsewhere, I sent the heads to the machine shop to be checked and they reported that some of...

    318 to 440

I'd keep the 69 K-frame. Has the better idler arm setup. Also chances are the 318 came with 3.23 gears unless it has an A code option.

This fricken old age is getting old....

I should clarify that. You get back the time blown from commuting and being gone. Now your repossessed time can be spent at home.

    Camshaft sizing help

As others have mentioned, cams for low compression engines require careful thought. They are already HP compromised due to the low CR. The 280 cam that PR mentioned would be as big as I would go.

Non computer controlled RWD with best gas mileage ? Car and truck

I bought a 93 Dakota sport new. 3.9 magnum, 5 speed. I put about 145K on it, never any big repairs, and imo, just the right amount of electronic engine management to make it almost zero maintenance. I sold it to a friends kid like 8 years ago, and I’m pretty sure it’s still going. It was a 2wd...

Renovation or market for Sun Machines?

I have a few of those machines. The distributor machine had some bad capacitors and some small parts, there is a company that does sell some parts for them. Paramount Distributor Company It works perfect now. I use it a few times a year. I got this one cheap because it is so large, but it...

    Current 73-74 Road Runner Values

The best car to restore is always the most original car you can find. Buying a shiny car or a previously restored car will almost never work out the way you think it will. Pictures are deceiving and a talented bodyman can “polish a turd” or “put lipstick on a pig”. Unless you or someone who...
