Agreed. I've been lucky in that I've only had one cam/lifter failure (440 engine, hydraulic cam) - and despite
all the usual protocols being followed (and using some of the fantastic Driven (Joe Gibbs Racing) high ZDDP
break-in oil, the COMP cam/lifter combo wiped a couple lobes in fairly short...
The underlying thing with this issue to me is simple:
- For decades, we didn't hear (or experience) multitudes of cam failures in engines, rebuilt or otherwise.
Cams (and lifters) were made of certain metals (and were machined a certain way); oil was made a certain
way (all dino, of course)...
Man, right at the worst time...right at rotation.:(
Incredibly, I guess they tried to get it airborne enough to find a way back down under control??

Sadly, that's about always the caveat in about anything these days, isn't it?
If you aren't one, haven't had reason to deal with one much and don't hang out with them, how is the typical working
class schlub supposed to know when a lawyer he's picked (from word of...
Yes, first off thank God everyone is ok! :praying:
As an aside, one thing I've noticed here the last few odd months of my self-imposed limited participation in the Forum
is how sometimes folks get a little caught up in minor bug-tussles with one another over topics of the day.
I mean, I've been...
Aww thanks my friend. We had Fred out today in fact, for a local small show at a nearby church.
I'll be danged if he didn't show his appreciation by the passenger rear window going all wonky and refusing
to shut properly (got in a heck of a bind actually).
Guess I gotta address that now...
