Marketing 101: flowkooler
Flow, more MUST be better right? Not necessarily
Kookier= cooler and that's what old car guys want
So flowkooler must be the ticket for cooling woes!
I never buy those type of hi-flow products for oil, fuel, coolant, etc, and don't have any cooling problems using...
Yes i did. alot more. But no oil or very little while engine was running only when i primed with a shaft and drill. Could have it running without valvecovers and didn´t get much oil on the floor
A friend's daughter has a low mileage survivor called me about starting it after 15 years without a start. I told her to change the oil and she asked: What kind? I grab whatever is handy, but it being someone else's car, I hesitated. I've never given any thought or research. I said 10-40...
Yesterday:
I enrolled in the "Jersey Jesus's" online body and paint academy. The D100 is in epoxy.
Today:
Rear differential gear oil change, and 10 points awarded for what the pics show:
Can someone explain to me how the filter is to blame for the pump not priming?
Exactly what is malfunctioning in the filter?
If you removed the filter completely, would the pump not pump oil?
Removed and disassembled my oil pump. When installing new O rings I see the packet says:
".078 thick, large O-ring is ONLY for stock factory and Melling M63HV pumps.
Thinner .065 is ONLY for Milodon 21814 21815 pumps"
Well I disassembled the pump entirely which I am regretting. Pretty sure...
I'm told these are getting hard to find and it's just sitting in my garage. In good shape , very slight surface rust starting. Shipping would be from 53034. $200
Just an FYI it's a NON HP version (no baffles)
I have no clue , I get the no baffle part but what does it mean ? Thanks ...
Nope. Have you ever actually installed a mech oil pressure gauge ? On your, or a customers, car ? I'd like to know where vibration will cause the copper line to crack and break. I wonder if you know what to do to avoid that condition.
Which engine? Whatoil pan? You're probably better off to mock it up, put measured water in it and check the stick until you get to the 5,6,7,8 quarts required.
Once you're happy, dump the water, fill with cheap oil. Check it, adjust as needed, dump it and fill again. A little distilled water in...
Done lots of hydraulic rollers in 440's with no noise. 1st you cannot run thick oil in the retro hydraulic lifters they are selling. 10w30 oil is what works best. With thick oil they do not operate correctly. 2nd if you are not using adjustable rocker arms you have to be very precise in...
Ever watch an oil sight glass for a sleeve bearing where you increase flow and pressure and all of a sudden it starts foaming? I have. No foaming at lower flow and pressure. Does the same thing happen inside an engine? How do you know? Like I said, talk to a tribologist if you want to get...
Love those door handles! It makes me happy seeing these kids excited about restoring old cars, even though they are not doing it the way most of us would. When I was young like him I had no time at all to even change the oil, what with working and chasing furry little triangles.
Heres one with...
"If your entire oil supply is so coagulated"
That is not the level that is required to cause a large filter oil bypass condition, what is needed is just enough to block the filter media.
And what will flow thru bearings I believe in most cases is much larger than what most filters will...
I don't know what the bearing clearances are. I had the machine shop assemble the rotating assembly. Nor does the 440 source website mention whether or not the bearings are grooved. If I idled at 1200, then it would be at a more reasonable pressure.
