FSM will give details of heater core/evaporator removal which requires disassembling the box. Take many detailed pictures of the linkages/springs. Very easy to get them installed wrong. Replacement heater cores do not fit right. Glen Ray is not taking new work. Find a local shop to redo...

Seems & knowing are two different things you received some good advice about removing the shoes & reevaluating the condition but seem to ignore it & rather take a chance, why bother asking advice.
