    Glad I changed camshafts

Those are stiffer than the ISKY 8005A springs (400 spring rate) I am running on the Comp 236/242 @ 0.050" Hydraulic Roller cam. Oops, just noticed that the cam is a solid flat tappet cam, so the spring rates make sense. I was thinking hydraulic cam.

Do you already have the connection for the windshield washer? I have a 1971 Factory service Manual, but I don't know where I put it.

    Wiring Questions / Discussion

Feel free to add more. I have seen the can bus type distributed power distribution modules, but never knew anyone who has used one. Digging into all the options is quite a rabbit hole, but something I want to learn more about. I do have a BS degree in Electronics Engineering (for real), but...

    Wiring Questions / Discussion

Good information. When a was reading about the EPDM welding cable it seems to have all the Pros: Affordable Flexible high temp resistant good abrasion resistance good moisture and UV resistance Cons: Not good with oils, and fuels I do see some wire advertised as chemical resistant EPDM? Not...

Lately been looking at different videos and posts on car wiring, and seeing all types of systems and opinions, but not much discussion on the pros and cons. I am curios on your opinions of different aspects of car wiring. Here is four to start with: Question #1 - Mostly relates to aftermarket...

    '74 Charger numbers help

On the Factory Service Manual, I don't know if there are reproductions for 1974? I would search for "1974 Charger Factory Service manual". Might be something on E-Bay? There may be some non-factory service manuals like from Chilton. Rock auto sells a CD or USB manual (non factory). I had...

how critical is installed valve spring height?

I am thinking the machine shop might have put shims under the spring seat/cup locators that prevents the springs from digging into the aluminum head. Your measured install height seems really short and I think the 440 source heads ship with more install height than your measuring? Usually the...

Break in oil for new 440

Back in the day, just used to be the regular high ZDDP oil 10W-40 (SE, SF spec) and a can of Engine Oil Supplement (EOS) and never had a problem. I think the EOS was mainly Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)? Used to do the 500 mile break-in back then. With all the new oil formulations, the break-in...

how critical is installed valve spring height?

That is a nice cam, I'm running the small block version in my 360. Pry the valve stem seals off. Usually two large flat blade screwdrivers work OK. Remove the spring seats and any shims under them, reinstall spring seats only and re-measure the install heights. If you use plus height retainers...

Break in oil for new 440

Driven oil recommends replacing the oil and filter after break-in, then change oil with new break-in oil and run for 300 miles Max: Break-In Engine Oil Really, after break-in, I just us a good high ZDDP "Hot Rod Oil". You don't want to put alot of miles on with a true extra high ZDDP "Break-in"...

    TTI exhaust install

After installing the headers, install the tail pipe hangers and tail pipes for clearance around the fuel tank and axle. If you have exhaust tips, you might need to shorten the length of the tail pipes. Having the tail pipes in place will help determine where the mufflers need to be placed. You...

Here is a question for the flat tappet cam guys....

I never had a cam go flat until after they changed to the API SL standard in 2001. They already had started lowering ZDDP levels in 1996 to 1,000 ppm of ZDDP (API SJ), but I don't recall having issues until the new SL which was still 1,000 ppm ZDDP, but something else changed, maybe deposit...

    Enrichen transition circuit

Need to test either without the air filter or the filter spaced higher away from the fuel bowl vents. If the air filter lid is too close the the bowl vents it can mess up the carb metering. I think if you had a lean spot at tip-in in the transition then enlarging the Idle Feed Restriction (IFR)...

    5/16 fuel line restriction?

When I get a new-to-me classic car one of the first items I check is the condition of the fuel tank, fuel pickup, the rubber lines connecting the tank pickup to the fuel lines (cracked air-sucking lines drove me crazy on a vehicle long ago), tank venting, and the actual front to back fuel lines...

    Under dash button

is it an on/off switch or momentary? I added a switch around the same place to disable the power windows, like a power window lock. it goes to the power window relay that is pretty much right above the switch. If it was a rotory knob, then might be front/rear speaker fader.

Hydraulic Roller Cam Button End Play

I must have ordered the 440 source extra thick timing cover with the cam button reinforcement. Just open up the box yesterday and the cover is really nice and thick. Haven't mocked up to a block yet. Also got the extra thick oil pan, and it looks really nice. These are real heavy and the...
