My friend Marvin told me that if i ever drove a 71 i'd fall in love with them and he was right, As far as looks go they are a little trickier to make look good I think. Have to get the colour and wheels right and shiny paint is important. If a 3rd gen is dull green or brown with F78X14's on it...
Mini starter makes this tons easier than the heavy oem unit. Mine came out of the bottom of my ‘71, meaning the front end of the car needed to be a bit high. Over this winter I’m going back to my oem manifolds.
I have no idea…. I ASSUME stock mounts but really dont know…. My biggest issue is i cannot get on the cold concrete floor with 2 replacement knees and a bad back to handle this! Lol
The major auto mfgs have not made ( or sourced ) flat tappets since the late 80's early 90's. The machines that make flat tappets are worn, the knowledge to quality check them has retired. It's the tappets.
Its going to depend on final drive and tire size but it should be more than 200rpm, example in photos below.
Another option is the Passon Hemi OD trans. I currently am running one of these and have been mostly happy with it. With every option it seems like there is a compromise, TKX is big $$...
Question, stock engine mounts? The engine can be moved around almost 1/2" in the vertical and horizontal. Would this possibly help? Used to run into this with my Dart, until I went tubular front suspension and git rid of the torsion bars.

I measure 5/8" for the diameter inside the installed rubber grommet. I purchased the valve covers used/second hand so don't know the history of the grommet. From above responses, it seems I have the wrong grommet not the wrong PCV valve. I'll be looking into it further. Thank you.
Yes, I know, painted headers. this purchase was primarily budget based as I am trying to get this car to where I can get it on the road. It currently has no exhaust. I would have liked to have gotten something a lot nicer but I have a pretty tight budget with what I am trying to do.
