At least the 2.66 1st makes it more useable and less likely to be a granny gear with numerically higher final drives.
With used harnesses, you may run into a lot of brittle ones. There are certainly good ones out there, but if you do go with new... another vote for M&H.

I don't know about that. When I ran 440's (including the 590 cam), granted they were race only, but they liked 38 - 40 degrees total timing. My strokers are more efficient and are around 32 degrees total.

I used a truck shifter with 71-74 B body "bench/buddy seat" mount and rods.
