Forget the OHM's. You need to test the circuit under load. It should only take 20 to 30 minutes to check it. Your problem is a constant issue which makes it easier to diagnose.

Did you retain the original wiring to the ammeter and run and additional heavier gage wire from the alternator to the battery?

Oh yeah... I have aftermarket gauges with a voltmeter too. I blame the MP electronic ignition setup. I've had coils conk out, the pickup in the distributor and ECUs too.
