Pretty sure Halifax hops answered your question. The way i distinguish them: single point caps have a spring loaded rotor, and a fixed center contact in the cap. The dual point (and my cast iron electronic tach drive distributor) uses a fixed contact rotor, and a spring loaded center contact...
